The Professionalism in Clinical Learning course was created by an interprofessional team of faculty and staff from the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy and Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine Waterloo Regional Campus of McMaster University. Professionalism committees at both institutions reviewed the content and provided suggestions to refine the final product.
Yes, the Professionalism in Clinical Learning course is accredited. It is an Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and approved by McMaster University Continuing Health Sciences Education Program for up to 4 MOC Section 3 hours. This accreditation expires November 20, 2024. Pharmacists can use continuing education accredited by the RCPSC (MOC) towards their accredited learning activities. Retain a copy of the statement of completion to demonstrate the number of accredited hours.
Once you have registered for the course AND received your course welcome email, the course will be accessible from the Dashboard in your Waterloo Pharmacy Lifelong Learning account. Course progress will also be indicated on the Dashboard. Participants will have access to the course for up to one year. The course contains three sections: Getting Started, Course Content & Activities, and Confirmation of Completing Course Requirements and Feedback. Please read all information in the Getting Started section PRIOR to reviewing the Course Content & Activities section as it includes important information pertaining to navigating through course lessons. To ensure your completion is recorded, please submit all six (6) module activities and the completion questionnaire to verify that you have gone through all lessons in each module and are eligible to receive your statement of completion. A statement of completion will be issued once all course requirements have been completed. To access your statement of completion, go to My Dashboard -> Go to your name in the top right header -> Go to My Account -> Go to Certificates.
The Professionalism in Clinical Learning course was originally created for learners at the University of Waterloo and McMaster University to provide education, support and tools for learners and faculty while preparing for and engaged in clinical education. However, much of the course content is applicable to a broad range of healthcare programs and organizations.
The course should take no more than 4 hours to complete (approximately 40 minutes per module).
When this happens to learners, it is usually a result of clicking “complete and continue” before navigating through all the lessons in the content section of each module. To review all of the lessons in each modules, click “Begin Here” at the top banner when you enter the Course Content and Activities section. Once you scroll to the bottom of the lesson page, click the button for the next lesson located ABOVE “complete and continue”.
